One of the Indiana Department of Education’s requirements for high ability students is to gather a group of educators, parents, and students to discuss the MSDLT programming for high ability students. This group, called the Broad Based Planning Committee (BBPC), meets two – three times a year to discuss the state’s regulations, MSDLT services, and goals for the future.
Representation for this group should be diverse – including participants from different races, genders, locations in the district, and roles with high ability students. Parents are welcome to include their high ability child (as long as the child is in grade 5 or above). Please contact Pat Gerber via email (or through your child’s teacher) if you are interested in participating and if your child (in grade 5 or older) is interested as well. The deadline to indicate your interest is October 1, 2010. If more people show interest than there are spots available, participants that meet the various roles will be asked to participate (i.e., representation must be from various grades, sites, experiences, races, etc.). Thank you for considering to serve on this important committee.
Feel free to email with any questions.
Pat Gerber, Director of Special Programs
