Title I

Title I is a federally funded program that ensures that all children have a fair, equal, and significant opportunity to obtain a high-quality education and reach, at a minimum, proficiency on challenging State academic achievement standards and state academic assessments. The MSD of Lawrence Township funds programming that supports literacy for our most academically at-risk students at the four Early Learning Centers, Harrison Hill School of Inquiry, and Brook Park and Crestview Elementary Schools.

Some of the programming offered includes giving more students the opportunity to attend full-day kindergarten at no cost to the family, free pre-school classes for children who are the year before kindergarten, additional tutoring or intensive reading support, and opportunities for parent education and resources.  The Early Learning Centers and Harrison Hill are labeled as Title I School wide Programs.  This allows for the Title I funding to support all of the students in need at those schools. Brook Park is a Targeted Assistance School.  Students who are performing in the lowest ranges will receive the additional support to increase their achievement levels in school.

In addition to supporting those three sites in MSDLT, the Title I funding also supports professional development for teachers and instructional assistants.  Training is provided in areas that will have the greatest impact when MSDLT educators work with our students who are most at risk of not reaching their academic potential.
