POSITIVE IMPACT volunteer Initiative

The Metropolitan School District of Lawrence Township’s Positive Impact program allows you an opportunity to connect face-to-face with Lawrence Township students.  Volunteer opportunities include mentoring, tutoring, participating as a classroom volunteer, at the pre-Kindergarten, elementary, middle and high school levels.

VOLUNTEER PROCEDURES

  1. Review the volunteer/mentor opportunities on the Positive Impact Volunteer Request Form on line.
  1. Complete and submit the Positive Impact Volunteer Request Form.
  1. Volunteer information will be sent to the school’s Positive Impact Coordinator.
  1. Volunteers will be contacted directly by the school’s Positive Impact Coordinator.
  1. Inservicing will be conducted by the school personnel at that school.  Dates and times for the Positive Impact Orientation will be shared with the volunteers.
  1. We want to do everything reasonable to prepare our volunteers/mentors and maintain safety of the students with whom they will be working.  Therefore, at the school’s orientation, please be prepared for MSDLT to complete a thorough background check including criminal history and sex crimes at no cost to you.  All results will remain confidential.  Please bring photo identification (driver's license, State I.D.)  to the school’s orientation to verify your information.
  1. Students will have parent permission forms signed.
  1. When the background checks have been returned, you will be contacted with your dates and times for volunteering.
  1. Volunteers will sign in and out at the school office.
  1. A Volunteer Handbook will be provided for all volunteers.
  1. Reviews and input from volunteers and the school personnel will be conducted each semester.
