Performance Excellence is the result of a pragmatic, systems approach to continual improvement driven by stakeholder needs, expectations and requirements. Beginning in the 2006-07 school year the MSD of Lawrence Township (MSDLT) launched an overall strategic and continuous initiative for the improvement of student achievement via a Strategic Planning Process.
By adopting the previous North Central Association’s accreditation criteria, now called AdvancED, and utilizing a systemic approach the Board, Superintendent and Administrative Council along with Strategic Thinkers engage in monthly sessions for learning and application. The overall objective is to implement a systems approach to improvement at the district and each school and program site.
Edward Deming once said that most of the problems or issues we face in organizations are Systemic, rather than due to the efforts of those that work in the organization. Therefore, leadership must determine how best to change the system in which we deliver learning rather than changing the programs or the people or the students who are in the system.
Our approach is to clearly determine what is “operational” versus what is “strategic” in our planning and organizational structures. Below you may access several documents for more information on Strategic Planning in the MSDLT.
