McCulley competed in three sports at Lawrence North and earned nine varsity letters in football, track and basketball. In football as a senior, he led the Wildcats to a 7-4 record for their first winning season in 15 years. McCulley was named the Marion County Player of the Year
in 2019 and 2020, along with numerous other awards, including the Mr. Football position award for quarterback. He set the school season records for passing yards (2,796), passing touchdowns (24) and completions (148), along with career records for passing yards (6,555), passing touchdowns (56) and completions (391). McCulley also set school records for TD passes in a game (five) and longest receiving touchdown with a 90-yard reception on fake punt. He played a key role on the basketball team for two years, helping the Wildcats to a 53-5 record, back-to-back sectional titles and a state finals appearance as a senior. McCulley also participated on the track and field team as a high jumper, helping the Wildcats to a sectional title in 2019. An honor roll student, McCulley was voted prom king by his classmates and will attend Indiana
, where he will play football and study sports marketing/management.
