The Fall Creek Valley (FCV) seventh and eighth grade boys basketball teams continued their trend of success on Saturday, January 20th, with two wins in the MIIC Basketball Tourney Championship. The seventh graders took down the host school, Chapel Hill, to finish a resounding 23-0 on the season. After pulling out wins with
relative ease in the first two rounds of the tournament before meeting Chapel Hill in the final, the 7th Grade team battled back after being down for part of the game to pull away late and secure an undefeated season. The 8th Grade boys from last season led by D.J. Hughes also went undefeated. On the eighth grade side, Kamari Lands led the Bearcats to a victory over a tough New Augusta team in the finals. After losses to Fishers and Carmel Middle Schools earlier in the season, the 6’4” Lands put his team on the back in the tournament and guided the team to three straight wins. The 8th Graders finished the season at 21-2 and will enter high school with one of the best two year winning percentages in FCV history. Lands will look to make an immediate impact at Lawrence North next season, while
other members will factor into JV and varsity teams. The Middle Schoolers finish a combined 45-2 with two MIIC and Marion County championships between the two and will be honored on Jan. 26, 2018 before the LN-Center Grove varsity game for their accomplishments.
